      A. Bishop's (Overseer) Description (I Timothy 3:1-7)

         *1. Blameless: Can not be laid hold upon, Above Reproach (5:7, 6:14)

         *2. The Husband of One Wife: A One Woman Man [No roving eye or philandering]

           3. Vigilant: Watchful, Cautious and Wise (I Timothy 3:11; Titus 2:2)

         *4. Sober: Prudent, Thoughtful, Self-controlled, Serious, Sensible, Sound-minded (Titus 1:8; 2:2)

           5. Of Good Behavior: Honorable, Respectable (I Timothy 2:9)

          7. Apt to Teach: Skillful in Teaching/Giving Precise Instruction (II Timothy 2:24)

        *9. No Striker: Not A Bully/Dictator Type (Titus 1:7)

        10. Not Greedy of Filthy Lucre : Not A Lover of Money

        11. Patient: Gentle, Kind, Gracious, Peaceable (Titus 3:2; James 3:17; I Peter 2:18)

        12. Not A Brawler: Abstains from Fighting, Not Contentious (Titus 3:2)

        13. Not Covetous: Not Desiring Others Possessions (Galatians 5:19-21)

        14. One that rules well his own house: The Spiritual Head of the Home (I Tim 3:12, 5:17; Tit 3:8,14)

        15. Having His Children in Subjection with All Gravity: Children Must Be Submissive/Under Auth'y 

        16. Not A Novice: Not Newly Converted or Just Planted

        17. A Good Report: His Testimony Must Be Spotless/Blameless

  B. The Elder's (Mature/Older Man) Bishop's Description (Titus 1:6-9)

          1. Having Faithful Children: His Children are Saved and Living for the Lord (Titus 1:6)

          2. Not Accused of Riot or Unruly: No Loose Living, Debauchery, Excess (Titus 1:6; I Peter 4:4)

          3. Not Unruly: Not Undisciplined, Rebellious (Titus 1:9, 10)

          4. Steward of God: Manager/Administrator of God's Business/House/Word (Titus 1:7; I Peter 4:10)

          5. Not Self-willed: Not Stubborn, Arrogant, Mule-Minded (Titus 1:7; II Peter 2:10)

          6. Not Soon Angry: Not Prone to Be Controlled by Emotions (Titus 1:7; Ephesians 4:26)

          7. A Lover of Hospitality: Lover of Strangers (Titus 1:8)

          8. A Lover of Good Men: And Good Things (Titus 1:8)

          9. Just: Righteous, Upright, Law-Abiding, Honest (Titus 1:8; Colossians 4:1; II Peter 1:13)

        10. Holy: Devout, Pure Heart, God-pleasing (I Timothy 2:8; Titus 1:8; Hebrews 7:26)

        11. Temperate: Disciplined, Self-controlled (Galatians 5:23; Titus 1:8; II Peter 1:6)

        12. Capable by Sound Doctrine to Exhort and Convince the Gainsayers (Titus 1:9)

    A. He Is A Strong Teacher (v.1, 2)
