Pastor's Questionnaire for Potential Call to Local Church

Pastor’s Questionnaire for Potential Call to Local Church

On the initial interview you should emphasize these areas unless they are already covered in the questionnaire that he has already filled out:

1. Tell us about your salvation/baptism experience

2. Tell us about your call to preach the Word

3. Tell us how you were led to this church

4. Ask him to tell you about his wife's role in his decision making process

5. If he has family old enough to be saved ask him about them/their salvation/present life

6. Ask him to tell you about 'the day of trouble' when feelings and circumstances tell him its time to get out/leave this church...will he go back to the Word when he was called to this church or....??

7. Tell us about your plan for accomplishing the work of the ministry here at this church:
Edification: Does he plan to "Perfect the saints to do the work of the ministry" or clean the toilets/take care of business by himself
Evangelism: Does he plan to reach the community for Christ
Does he plan to "Perfect the saints (mobilize the Army of God) to do the work of the ministry" or is he the "Lone Ranger" when it comes to winning souls for Jesus?

8. How would you describe your pulpit ministry?
    a. Preacher vs. Teacher
    b. Expository vs. Topical
    c. Do you preach through books of the Bible/chapters or the Bible/passages

(Do not ask yes and no questions, like "When were you saved" etc...give him the opportunity to tell a story/verbalize his experiences by asking him to "Tell us about...)

Take notes as he is interviewed and pay close attention to these areas as he talks about his leading/discerning the will of God:
1. The role of the Word of God in his call/leading to this church

2. The role of the Holy Spirit in his call/leading to this church
(feelings vs. facts/faith based on the Word as the Holy Spirit speaks)

3. The role of counsel with his wife and mentors/men of influence in his life

4. The role of circumstances in his being led to this church

(Does he utilize the first three Biblical sources in order to determine the Lord's will?
How does he weigh the role/effect of circumstances)
